Learn Improv Log Cabin Triangle Piecing, Cityscapes, and Judaic Quilting with Cathy Perlmutter

(Show 3406) Cathy Perlmutter’s non-fussy quilts are a joyful blend of colorful artsy improv, topped with a bit of quirky humor. Early dreams of being an art major were shattered when she realized she simply didn’t have the talent it took to become an art major, being a journalism major was the better choice. An unexpected stop while on vacation in 1991 exposed her to the world of quilting and the artist within knew she had found her place. Thirty years later, she says she still can’t sew a straight line, but loves designing fun and non-fussy quilts. Learn how to build your own colorful cityscape out of fabric, foundation piece improv Log Cabin triangles, and stitch Kippah gifts for your friends and family.

The show was fantastic, but the after set gave me goosebumps!! Cathy had very wise words for all to hear. I have found that for the most part the quilt community is inclusive, thank goodness. For many years I worked in a library in a very diverse community. One day as I was helping a woman find a book, her sleeve pulled up to reveal a numerical tattoo. I froze in my tracks for several seconds; a moment I will never forget. We need to learn from each other; celebrate our differences.
Thank you for your absolutely wonder programs.

What an extraordinary person Cathy is. My older brother had a creepy crawler maker back in the 70s. That thing was wicked because it go so hot. Thank you for another wonderful episode
